Spacebar Counter

How fast can you tap the spacebar? Pick a duration, mash the spacebar, and get your presses-per-second score.

How it counts

A high-resolution timer starts on your first spacebar press and counts every press until the window ends. Auto-repeat from holding the key is ignored, so the number reflects real taps, not a stuck key.

Speed versus stamina

A 5-second window favours an explosive burst; 10 or 30 seconds shows how long you can keep the pace up. Your best run stays in the Best pill so you can chase it.

FAQ

What is the spacebar counter?

It counts how many times you press the spacebar in a fixed window and reports your presses per second. It's the keyboard cousin of the CPS test — popular for games that bind actions to space, and for settling 'who can mash fastest' arguments.

Why doesn't the page scroll when I press space?

The test stops the spacebar's default scroll action while you're counting, so your taps register cleanly instead of jumping the page. Holding the key down won't inflate the count either — only fresh presses are counted.

What's a good spacebar speed?

Most people land around 5–7 presses per second. Fast mashers reach 8–10+. Like clicking, a longer window shows what you can sustain rather than a one-second spike.
